How beautiful is this little kin? Known as pasqueflower, this beauty flowers at Easter time, hence the name. These are growing in a little pot outside my apothecary but I did once have the pleasure of walking through the Dolomites at Easter time and it was so glorious - pasqueflowers of pale soft yellows, purples and white. There are many different species and in practice, we use Pulsatilla vulgaris.

My first work with this plant was in clinic when I was training and it was brought into the medicine for a client who was in shock. My mentor at the time, Christopher Hedley, really liked the traditional combination of pasqueflower and lemon balm. This little combination has met with really good results in many clients since. Both herbs are really good for the nervous system and together they form a merry little duo with depth and power. Sometimes I add in rose and motherwort, another beautiful combination for grief, shock, loss, anxiety and challenge.
